Its not D because:

x, y, z can be 1, 3, 5 or 3, 7, 11 for y = (x+z)/2
First case they are consecutive odd integers while in the second case they are not.

IMO E. Stmt 1: The ratio of pens, pencil, pad per staff is 2:3:4. This does not tell us about total items distributed and hence we cannot find out how many people were there. INSUFFICIENT. Stmt 2: Total of 18 pens, 27 pencils, and 36 pads were distributed. We just know that this is in the ratio of 2...

OK, I was getting impatient and googled the solution. I am not sure if that is against the rules of the forum but here is goes: Possible Set (mean) [Differences from mean] 1 1 1 5 (2) [1, 1, 1, 3] 1 1 3 5 (2.5) [1.5, 1.5, 0.5, 2.5] 1 1 5 5 (3) [2, 2, 2, 2] 1 3 3 5 (3) [2, 0, 0, 2] 1 3 5 5 (3.5) [2.5...

I did it with extreme approximation, not sure if it is acceptable: 2 x 5 x 3 x 7 x 11 x 13 x 17 x 19 => 10 x 21 x 11 x 13 x 17 x 19 => Approximate as follows: 21=2X10, 11=10, 19=2X10, 17=2^4 => 10 x 2 x 10 x 10 x 13 x 2^4 x 2 x 10 => 10^4 x 2^6 x 13 => Approximate 13 to be 2^4 => 10^4 x 2^6 x 2^ 4 =...

IMO B. Keep drawing socks while trying to avoid picking a pair in each draw. At some point you will have to pick a sock that completes a pair. Continue till you have 4 pairs. I could come up with the following. possible sequence(s): R, B, W, R, B, W, R, B, W, R [4 pairs] R, B, W, R, R, R, R, R, R, R...

Would go for C

All possible sets of odd numbers with range of 4:

x is odd:
1) x, x, x+2, x+4
2) x, x+2, x+2, x+4
3) x, x+2, x+4, x+4
4) x, x, x, x+4
5) x, x+4, x+4, x+4

All the above sets will have different SD

Aaah.. now I get it.. if x is positive, then the RHS might be -ve or +ve, LHS is always +ve...hence we need to know if x is -ve to be able to determine if a stmt is sufficient.. Thanks mate!
