570 (1st actual GMAT attempt) to 710

This is going to be a lengthy post, so please bear with me. I just want to be able to share my experience in the hopes that it can help anyone who’s in the same boat as I was in. I have to say that it’s such a relief to be finally over with the GMAT. It’s been a difficult 2 on-off years with t...

1) I retook practice test 1 for the 680. I never skipped anything, I always did the full length test, I even let 2 minutes pass for some repeat question that I got. 2) MGMAT guides, OG, and materials from a short review course I took last year (their practice material are actually old GMAT questions...

Hi rich, i get that point. But what I meant was: isn't subtracting the # of sides basically taking out the points that are already connected? Sorry for pestering regarding this, but I just wanted to check in case of the unlikely event of a similar problem but with a 20-sided polygon instead (for exa...

How to proceed (Assessing standing, improving timing)

Hi, just would like some advice. I took the GMAT last year and got a 570. Prior to the test, I scored 700, 650, and 680 on the GMATPrep software respectively. I believe the 580 was due to a bad case of nerves since I was getting 550+ level questions midway thru the quant part and everything went dow...

Hi Rich Why is the combination solution not possible? Isn't it basically 8!/(2!8!) for all line combinations, and then deduct all the sides, in this case 8? I'm asking because I try to avoid listing down possibilities since the time pressure gets to me and I tend to overlook or re-list other possibi...

I computed by getting all possible combinations 10 x 10 = 100; and then subtracting the same colored pairs, which is 10

100-90 = 10

I think that would be clearer for you to avoid confusion.

I'm used this template in my last GMAT and I could barely finish the essay. I'm doing some practice ones now, and I can't finish it within the 30 minute time limit.

I'll probably tweak it and merge the "lack of evidence" with the "strengthening with suggested evidence" portions.

Hi Thanks for the answer and the link Brent. My GMAT is at the end of the month so I'm nervous. I've read the horror stories here where people got a 700+ on the Prep software then got only something like 570 in the actual GMAT. Anyway, I'll take 2 more prep tests this week. Hope I'll be giving a tri...

Uncertain answers

Hi I took a full length a mock-test using the GMAT Prep Software and scored a 700 (Q 47 and V 39). Funny thing was I was rarely sure of my answers, especially the Verbal part and the DS questions. Did I just get lucky? Or is it entirely normal to go through the test being uncertain of your answers m...
