In your experience, are there problems where it is necessary to use a calculator or can you get away with just using your eraseable uneraseable notepad? Here's the deal: we should all be able to do the entire section without a calculator, and I think practicing this way at first is great. Nonethele...

You mentioned that you used the explanations for GMATPrep tests? I took 2 of their CATS and did not find any explanations. Googling the questions themselves sometimes did not produce any results. What do you suggest? I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I used the explanations for the practice problems. Most ...

Did u refer to earlier OG editions? No, I only used the 13th edition. What kind of questions did u encounter during the exam, especially in quant. I encountered at least one of each type from what I recall. I expected more geometry (especially triangles and circles) but encountered only a few. Which...

To add two more "any one" examples to the post above:
Any one of a number of things can go wrong while taking an exam.
I don't recall seeing any one of those items on the table.

How I beat the IR section
I posted some of these tips in another section, but I thought it would be more helpful for people if I refined and posted them here in the IR section. I am someone who started at IR scores of 3 and 4, and in very little time got up to scores of 7 and 8. So, how did I do it? First, let me say I am a ...

IR Prep
Congratulations! That's a great great debrief.I really enjoyed reading it.. Thanks Suz! Since I will also be applying next year, and as you rightfully pointed out- the IR will be more important by then, could you tell me a little more about how you prepared for this section/how much time you devote...

C First off, I'm not sure who wrote this problem, but it's not very clear, and doesn't seem to be worded well enough to be an official GMAT problem. A: There is no reason to believe that they currently have enough money. The only mention is that maybe they should cut it short and then in a few year...

This may sound like a stupid question, but have you been using the calculator? Since I was looking through many older sources that said no calculator, when I began using the practice exams with IR I didn't notice it in the corner and was always running out of time. As soon as I figured it out I shav...

I second that. Also, the GMATPrep software has 15 IR questions as well as the IR sections in the practice exams. I found that MGMAT prepared me well, but only because they were tougher than anything I got on the GMAT or with OG.Jim@StratusPrep wrote:Get the OG 13th edition and do work from the website they provide you.

According to OfficialGMAT, it will work on the real test as well. :) And I can attest that the calculator not only works, it's much better than the one in MGMAT and better than the one in GMATPrep. Picture the Windows built-in calculator because that's basically what I got (and assume what everyone...

I'm no expert, but glancing through your results I see two major issues with your spreadsheet which actually seem to be in line with your real GMAT score: 1. Your deficits appear to be in almost all sections, so you shouldn't focus on any one in particular. 2. It seems that you are getting many easy...

760 (49Q, 45V)
I took the GMAT for the first time today, and while I didn't realize I hadn't selected the answer bubble on the final quant question until it was too late, I'm happy overall. Background: I graduated from college in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music... alright I won't bore you here. However, I'm now a me...
