I second that. You don't have to be inside the 50%-60% that come from finance or consulting. A unique background can go a long way (you still need a strong well-rounded profile though).

Very nice and inspiring story, although I'm not sure that we can learn something here regarding full time MBA programs, especially top programs.
But anyway, congratulations and all the best to you!

Hello,
Is it worthwhile for me to get a recommendation for next year at this time already? That is, do schools have a problem with a recommendation that is “out of date?

I don't want to scare you, but I've just read an article about the background checks for admitted students, read this: http://poetsandquants.com/2013/01/09/sc ... on-admits/

I remember seeing something about cancelling your score, but i'm not sure it can be done retroactively or do you have to do it right after the test. check their website.

Perhaps you can get a recommendation from your partner or from a client of your entrepreneurial initiative?

Great posts! thanks for sharing.
Did you rank the criteria according to importance from 1 to 9, or wrote them in random order?

I just took the test, not sure how accurate it is but it's fun!

Thanks! very helpful article.
Regarding the evaluation grid, shouldn't I also be worried if my recommender checks all with "excellent"? wouldn't it seem suspicious?

Wow, that's interesting, I wasn't aware of that. So you say someone with higher salary will have better admission chances?

Dude, 30 is not too old. Just look at the school profiles and see you are in the age range in all programs. If you're good you can get admitted at 30 easily.
