In what type of sentences can being be used?
The word 'being' signifies state of existence. So use it at the place which suggests that meaning.

A gerund is a verbal that acts as a noun and ends with "ing". A participle is a verbal that acts as an adjective and ends with either "ing" or "ed". Here I think that excelling is being used as an adjective and not as a noun. So I think OG is correct in this case. Hope...

I have a doubt on 'c' , but it seems to be the best bet. my reason for not choosing 'a' - that (correctly used) since sales of up to one-fourth of its stores are poor, they (the stores???) will be closed. here , 'they' refers to all the stores, and so it seems incorrect. My doubt with 'c' - isnt 'th...

Here 'me' will be there as it has to be in objective case.
'your husband doesnt believe' - clause 1 ( main or indep clause)
'that you are older than me' - clause 2 (dep clause)

Concentrating on clause 2, we can see that 'you' is the subject. 'me' has to be there on the object place.

Hope it helps.
