Gmat 4 times ( highest score 580) LOST
Hello experts! I'm writing this because I really need some advice. I just got back from my fourth Gmat attempt with a score of 560( Q 41 /V 28, 50% overall). Concerning the first example, when there's one variable only, i thought you needed to consider only two real cases : one in which neither expression changes sign, and another in which one expression changes sign. So I got x=4 and x= -1/2 as a result. Please explain this issue a little further.

First add individual rates:
Art rate + Rita rate= 1/6 + 1/T= T+6/6T.
Then multiply the added rates by the time they worked together= 4T+24=6T = 2T=24 =T=12
