I say columbia. It places much better with MBB. Moreover, i think for an mba, you always want to go for the best brand, and although nyu stern is a fine school, it just doesn't compete that well with columbia. You're paying for the network, prestige, recruiting, and name brand. Columbia mba will alw...

Nope. Not true. There is no "game over". The most important thing as a reapplicant is to show how you have improved. If you can do that, then you are off to a good start. Thanks. This certainly makes me feel better. Do you know of people who have gotten into M7 mba programs on say their 3...

B-schools blacklist those who've applied more than twice?

Talked to a friend at wharton, and he told me that adcom informally blacklists applicants who've applied more than twice. Their reasoning is that if you got dinged twice before, you should get the message and move on. This is very distrubing if true since I thought adcom would at least read your cur...

Think positively. Probably the school was not confident that such a strong student like you will join them. So instead of wasting their time and a seat, they choosen not to consider you. Atleast I believe that way and I have my reason for that. If the school care to give a sensible and personal rep...

Disaster: dinged at columbia, no interview

I submitted around 12/1 and just got the ding e-mail. Pretty stunned since i thought i had a strong app and given the quick turnaround time, i assumed that it would be an invite. I guess this means that my profile is fundamentally flawed. Worried that this means i have little hope for the other top ...

I too am wondering where these stats come from. As far as I know Sloan doesn't release any round by round stats, and that round 2 should be quite similar to round 1. someone may have incorrectly extrapolated these stats from other stats. It is true that R2 is more difficult, in general because they...

Dude. If Booth is your to-die-for school (and you live a few blocks away!) then go for it! Try the F/T Round 2 app. If it doesn't work out, you can give the P/T program a shot. It's *always* easier to get in on the P/T tracks - there just aren't as many local candidates like you to fill the class s...

Sorry for the bump. Still SUPER torn on whether i should bite the bullet and do booth round 2 full-time. There's only 3 schools in the world i would take over booth (only applying to 1 of them), and i absolutely LOVE the school. But i'm deathly afraid that if i get dinged, i would not be able to att...

This REALLY worries me. I worked in finance, but my compensation was low due to various issues with the firm. I'm worried that this will hurt my chances at top schools. I had thought about asking my recommender to talk about it but decided against it since it might come across as defensive.

I'm very interested in this as well. I was in finance but was grossly underpaid given my contributions to the firm. I had thought about having my recommender mention that in his letter but decided against it because it would come across as a bit defensive. I'm worried since adcom officers may use co...

Sorry if this sounds paranoid

I know b-schools can check IP addresses of login and submissions by both the applicant and the recommender. One of my recommenders from a previous job paid me a visit to my apartment to catch up and stuff. He then went to my building's computer center to log in and print out the rec questions, so he...

A 660 is not ideal by any means, but you do have a really strong profile. If you were a typical finance/consulting guy, a 660 would keep you out of the running at top 10 MBA programs, but that obviously does not apply to you. The good news is that your quant score improved a lot, which is pretty imp...

Is MIT Sloan round 2 even worth it?

Due to my gmat retake, which was critical in my case, i couldn't do mit sloan round 1. The round 2 stats are dauting; only about 12-13% are interviewed, compared to 25% for round 1. Among those interviewed, about 60-70% ae accepted, so we are talking about a round 2 acceptance rate of around 8%, com...

Do schools dig up prior applications of re-applicants?

I know at wharton and kellogg, they keep your applications on file for 2 years. If someone re-applies within that time frame, will they dig up your old app and do a point-by-point comparison?
