I just started the Booth weekend program and I fly in from the west coast. Homework and group work is done during lunch or over the phone/webex. Since most weekend students commute from out of town, you are not at a disadvantage. That said, there are some benefits of being local: there are more clas...

I did not visit the school prior to my interview. I would highly recommend that if you travel out for an interview that you at least sit in on a class or two. Also, I would recommend that you wait to finalize your essays after you have you interview and class visits (I believe the interview is manda...

I don't know the specifics for Kellogg, but I would assume it to be similar to Booth... http://www.chicagobooth.edu/parttime/community/weekend.aspx Note that a decent amount of people appear to move to Chicago after gaining admittance and I would guess (I have yet to start classes) that about half t...

Kellogg and Booth don't have rounds. You apply, interview and you get a quick answer. I applied about 2-4 weeks before the final deadline for the weekend program and got responses from Kellogg and Booth about 2-3 weeks after submission. Also they don't give the break-outs for stats for the weekend p...

Rohit,

I can't really comment on Leavey, but I believe that UCLA only offers a EMBA on weekends and USC requires weekday classes for part, if not all of the MBA program.

I had to pester the Booth admissions office a couple times to get an answer before I had to make my decision for Kellogg. Fortunately I was informed of the good news from Booth with only a day before I had to send my decision to Kellogg. Ultimately I chose Booth over Kellogg on a gut feeling; even t...

Hydropower- It looks like we have near identical stats and applied to the same schools. I have a 710 gmat (49Q/39V) and ~2.9 gpa in chem/bio engineering from a top 15 undergrad school. I spent 2.5 years in petrochem refining (process and project) and 2 years in biogas (various engineering and PM). I...

Stacey, You made mention of writing an optional essay to possibly explain my poor grades in my undergraduate studies. Unfortunately, I cannot claim that I was working massive hours or had other extenuating circumstances that could detract from my coursework. Instead, I credit my subpar performance i...

Thanks for the input. My issue was that listing the internships takes up a decent proportion of the single page resume. I have accomplishments that are worth mentioning from some internships, but like a lot of college internships, a couple of my summers were spent doing the work that more senior ind...

List Internship on Resume?

I am having trouble determining whether one should list their college internships on their resume. The internships I have had are applicable to my current field (which I want to continue in after my MBA). Unfortunately even listing these internships takes up a decent portion of my single page and do...

Thank you both for you replies. For clarification, I was not asking as a question of gaining acceptance, but rather to better understand the environment and whether I would be at a disadvantage due to commuting weekly from out of state. For example, I know Kellogg prides itself in its promotion of s...

Stacey, Thank you very much for your analysis. I will definitely make good use of your recommendation on writing the optional essay to further explain prior academic performance. It is also good to hear that not as much focus is put on extracurriculars for the PT students, as my activities have tend...

Kellogg and Haas Weekend Out Of Town Stats

I was unable to find any data on this. Does anyone know what percent of weekend part time students at Kellogg and Haas commute from out of state to take classes. Booth lists that roughly 50% of their student are not from the Midwest and likewise Ross lists 31% out of state; does Kellogg and Haas dra...
