760 (V51, Q46), slightly disappointed
GMAT prep 1: 760 (V48, Q47) GMAT prep 2: 760 (V47, Q49) Actual GMAT: 760 (V51, Q46) While the unreasonably high verbal score is welcome, the fact that I bombed on the quant part (after several weeks of studying) is hugely disappointing and what's worse, it's below the magical 80 percentile. So, I ha...

Do we need to know for GMAT that "angles in the same arc" are the same? I have never encountered a problem like this.

Combinations
If we have 5 red, 4 white, 3 black and 2 yellow marbles, how many different 2 marble combinations are there? This is a really basic combinatorics question, yet I'm blanking. What is the general formula for that? The Manhattan GMAT book was not particularly thorough with this.
Thanks all.

They're asking you whether k^(l+m) = (k^l) + (k^m) is true for ALL numbers, and you, it seems, are trying to pick particular numbers (for statement 2) that may work (if one of them is zero). THIS IS NOT WHAT THE QUESTION IS ASKING YOU. They're asking you if it's true for ALL numbers, not "some&...

Even after Rahul's explanation I still don't get it why it's not (B). If land zoned residential could be tripled then it means that only one third or less of all land in city A is currently zoned residential.

IF (z)^n = 1, what is the value of z? If n = 0, then z could be any number, obviously. now. (1) n is a non-zero integer - so now our choice for z is limited only to +1 (for any n) and -1 (for even n). Which one is it, +1 or -1? (2) z > 0 Ah, this tells is that it's +1. Therefore, (C)

"Thus p must be of the form (8n + 5)" God, I keep forgetting about this form when it comes to divisibility. I got the question right (A) but it was more of an educated guess. Anyway, Rahul, if I'm getting 49-50 on quant GMAT, you will be the sole person responsible for my progress. Thank y...

Jesus, Rahul, you're brilliant. I completely ignored PQR. How could I? How could I *not* do it on the actual test? How do I grow a brain - quick - before the test? Ah, the eternal questions.

Just imagine the MQ and NP arms swinging in both directions, and then do quick mental math. It took me less than a minute to go through all three options.

The question presupposes familiarity with card decks and indicates lack of familiarity with standard English on the part of the question writer. Definitely not a GMAT type question. Wherever you got this question, avoid this source in the future. Such blatant lack of professionalism indicates trouble.

First of all, the two statements are identical (if one angle is 30 degrees, then the other two will obviously add up to 150). So there are only two choices: either D or E. Now, statement 1 tells us, basically, that whatever the angle RPS is of the smaller triangle (points PRS), the QPS angle of the ...
