Scored a 700 (M 50 94%, V 35 74%)

by asinha » Fri Nov 07, 2008 6:59 pm
Took the GMAT today and scored a 700 (M 50 94% and V 35 74%). Somewhat disappointed with my score, especially the Verbal aspect of it, as I was hoping to score atleast 40 in Verbal and thereby, get a 740+ overall.

Though I am quite pleased with my Quant subscore, the Verbal was a bit disappointing. I would have been satisfied with a score of 38 and thereabouts and thrilled with a 40+. But it was not to be. Could you please offer any suggestions on improving Verbal? I thought I was good enough in Verbal to score a 40 or more especially as I read quite a bit and my practice scores were better than what I got today? Are there any suggestions or techniques you could offer so that I could maximize my Verbal score. I know if I take the exam again, I would score a 49 or more in Quant. It is Verbal, where I feel if I can raise my score by a few points, it would be really beneficial in terms of reaching towards a score of 740 or better.

And before I end, I would like to thank this forum to which helped me tremendously and that I visit often.

Be happy with a 700. Why go through another month or more of torture just to try and raise your score by a few points. What if it goes down, or you schedule the test and realize just before you go that you haven't improved your verbal? That's $250 dollars down the drain. Keep the money, save your sanity and start to work on round 2 applications. 700 gets the job done.
