The new law stipulates that an apartment rental company disclose to their tenants how far in advance they will require notice of an intent to vacate the property.

A) that an apartment rental company disclose to their tenants how far in advance they will require notice of an intent to vacate the property
B) an apartment rental company to disclose to their tenants how far in advance they will require notice of an intent to vacate the properties
C) that an apartment rental company disclose to its tenants how far in advance it will require notice of an intent to vacate a property
D) an apartment rental company should disclose to its tenants how far in advance it will require notice of an intent to vacate someone's property
E) that apartment rental companies disclose to tenants how far in advance notice of an intent to vacate a property is required

OA: Later. I filtered three out and still managed to select the wrong choice.
Vineesh,
Just telling you what I know and think. I am not the expert. :)

I am able to eliminate A and B using pronoun reference.

It was really difficult for me to pick one among C,D and E.

I picked D because C and E use that (suboridanate clause) with the word stipulates which I feel is awkward.

Thus IMO D.

What is the OA?

A & B uses "their " (plural ) pronoun to refer a singular noun (rental company). Reject.
D -- Wordy (reject); "stipulate" need to be followed by "that"
E ---Passive voice ( is required)

Pick C -- Proper Usage of Pronoun referring back to singular noun.

Thanks.

Actually while answering the question I wa conveinced that the word stipulated doesnot require 'that'.

So I missed to view the other differences.

This reminds me of a post by David (to remove blinkers while answering questions.)

STIPULATE is one of those words of command ("bossy" words) that generate the subjunctive . . . which is always a challenge to recognize.

Why is option E in correct? I was able to eliminate the others and I was down to C & E. I dont quite understatand what you mean by Passive voice is required. Can you explain?

Thanks!
