Reporting Score

by dmarro » Sat Mar 28, 2015 5:35 am
After you take the test, you have 2 minutes to decide whether or not to report the score. Right now, I am just studying for the gmat and not applying to schools, which I assume is what everyone does. Question is, after I take the test and report the score, how do I access the score later on to submit it to mba programs when I apply? Where is that info stored to where I can access it to send to schools?

Thanks,

Dan

This is actually a rather more complicated question than was acknowledged in the two answers above. First of all, the 2 minute timeframe at the end of the test is not to let you report your scores - it's to let you cancel them. Meaning, if you realize you did much worse than you expected, you have a chance to wipe them out and they won't go to the schools.

There are several scenarios to keep in mind with this and you should set up your strategy ahead of time for below what score you would cancel at. We covered this important issue in a series on the EssaySnark blahg - here are a few of the relevant posts:

https://essaysnark.com/2014/06/gmat-scor ... ur-scores/
https://essaysnark.com/2014/06/gmat-stra ... our-score/

Sending score reports to schools can be done for free when you take the test or upon payment of a fee thereafter. Again, it helps to set a strategy in advance (especially for a re-test and/or for reapplicants).

Hope that helps! Good luck on your test, Dan!!

Hello,

Today, I have written my first GMAT exam and was completely took by a surprise with my score of 390. I have been studying for at least four months and have scored at least 600 on 5 different practice tests. During the exam, I felt very confident and was very familiar with the questions in the exam. By the end of the exam, I was expecting at least 600 and I was shocked to receive 390! I have never scored so low, even on my first try prior to my studying. The administrator did mention that another girl writing her GMAT the same time was also surprised with her score. Is there any way there could have been a glitch in the system that did the incorrect calculations? What should I do to appeal this score?

Kindly let me know.

Thank you,
