Hi All,
Is there a source using which I can identify if a question in any of these 3 guides belongs to which chapter/topic that is being tested, i.e., question 9 is to do with prime factors concept of number properties?
This is similar to the way that these questions are identified in MGMAT 4th Edition books for the OG 12th Edition.
Thanks!
Question type in OG 2016 official + quant + verbal??

Hi skgmat,
We no longer have the questions listed by topic in the back of our strategy guides because GMAC will be issuing a new OG every year, and we don't want anyone's strategy guide lists to be obsolete.
Our GMAT Navigator allows you to track all of the problems you do from all OG's from the 12th ed through OG 2016, and analyze your data by question type, topic, and timing.
We have a free version: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/stor ... al-guides/
And an advanced version: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/stor ... navigator/
Both will allow you to sort and search by topic, but only the full access will allow you to see detailed answer explanations and videos, so I do strongly recommend it.
I hope this helps!

Just to be clear: Navigator covers not only the main OG, but also the Quant and Verbal supplements.

Hi Ceilidh & Brent,
Thank you both for your quick responses and the resources you have mentioned.
I will be using them to track my practice.
Is there a way I can use them to identify whether a problem belongs to a certain topic (example: number properties, primes, geometry, etc) before I actually work on it from PS/DS or RC/SC/CR in the OG Guides?
I am studying the topics by chapter and I'd like to practice the questions in the OG that belong to that chapter once I am done with a topic. I don't want to go through the whole PS/DS section of the OGs and then knowing which problem belonged to which category.
Hope you can help me out.
Thanks for your input & advice.

Yeah, I must confess that I have been waiting to transition my students to the OG 2016 books in part because I don't have an index of the questions of the type that skgmat is talking about (and have been hoping that I don't need to construct one manually from my previous versions). It is indeed helpful to be able to target questions in a particular area. Is there any way to export the information from the navigator for that purpose?

Yes - in Navigator there is a "browse questions by topic" function. You can search for all of the DS ratio problems in OG 2016, for example, and do a set of just those.
No, there is no way to export this information, because we want to protect the research we've done. I would recommend that you have your students purchase Navigator.

Just wanted to clarify my earlier post: I can see the browse button in Navigator but I can choose questions based only on the below and not as per what you mentioned:
1)Quant: DS/PS
2)Verbal: RC/CR/SC
So that's why I asked if the browse by topic is an option only available on the paid Navigator version??

Hey skgmat,
I'm an instructor, so I'm not always sure about all of our tech/account settings. From what I can tell, the "browse questions by topic" function only exists with the paid version of Navigator. If you've purchased a set of books through us, though, you should qualify for a full online account. Email our Students Services team at [email protected] and they'll help you out - they're very friendly, and much more knowledgeable about account settings than I am!

If there is anyone else out there who has compiled an index for the new OG's that would be super helpful. Ceilidh, MGMAT used to have a free version for the older OG's on the MGMAT website (maybe in a blog post or something). I understand the reasoning behind wanting to entice people to pay for the navigator, but it seems to me that it would be a good marketing tool to put a new index out there (perhaps with the MGMAT logo) for the current versions of the OG's. On advantage is that when the questions are categorized more or less along the lines of the chapters in the MGMAT books, it makes it really easy to have students then turn to those specific chapters to reinforce the issues that they are uncovering by doing specific categories of questions in the OG's.
I am being a little self-serving here because it would be nice to not have to create the index myself, but really I do believe it is a nice tool for MGMAT to be able to offer gratis since in then end I find that it links people back to the chapters in the MGMAT books and might encourage them to buy the books once they discover the content areas where they are weak.
