Hello Vaibhav,

Here is an evaluation of your profile from our end.

GMAT: average

ACADEMICS: Good. When it comes to academics, there seems to be no doubt about you being a bright student. Your B.Com degree, gives you some diversity since it distinguishes you from the overrepresented Engineering applicant pool. The fact that you were awarded two scholarships is impressive and make it a point to emphasize that in your candidature.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Good. With your work experience, I see a lot of pluses- especially working with a big name and having exposure to working with international clients, something the adcom definitely looks for in a candidate. The fact that you were awarded in the workplace gives you brownie points too. As with your family business, be ready to answer how the skillsets you acquired in your job experience helped you run your family business. Also, with 2+ years of work experience, be sure to expand on any leadership experience in the workplace.

EXTRA CURRICULARS: Average. Despite all the pluses, your extra curricular activities seem a bit dated. Being an 'event head' in college is a very common extra curricular activity amongst many candidates. Be sure to talk about any extra curricular activities in the workplace, perhaps sports. Note: your humanitarian work experience adds to your candidature, but do not talk about it too much (uncles you want to pursue a career in the field post MBA), you do not want to come across as having done the work simply to add a pointer to your resume.

Your current GMAT score plus a stellar application – including essays, LOR, CV, and application form will be good enough to get you into ESADE and Imperial. NTU and IESE would be stretch schools with the current score. To get a realistic shot at NUS and IE, you will need to bump your score by atleast 30 points.

Answers to some of your questions (assuming you want to proceed with the current score):
• Which other schools should I target?
CA: Mccgill and Queens in Canada, AIM in Manila, Rotterdam and UCD Smurfit in EU, AGSM in Australia, Manchester Business School in UK, 35+ ranked schools in USA

• Any thoughts on whether my target schools are reasonable based on my profile?
CA: Have answered the question above.

• Is my profile good enough to get decent scholarships in the school I am targeting?
CA: Scholarships are primarily driven by your GMAT score. So chances of scholarships are low, and even if you get them, you should realistically not expect anything more than 20% of total tuition fees.

• What more I can do to strengthen my profile so that my chances of making to these and other prestigious schools increase?
CA: Besides improving your GMAT score, you should look to attain more leadership experiences, showcase impact you made in Family Business, and needless to say make sure you draft a coherent and compelling application.

Wish you all the best and reach out to us in case you need personalized guidance!
