Profile evaluation request

by abhijitsharma88 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 6:13 am
Hi,
I just gave my second attempt at GMAT and secured 720 (Q49,V40).
I have 6.5 years of work experience in IT Business Analysis (Insurance and Travel domains).
I am Male, Engineer, Indian. Currently undecided on the geography I would like to pursue my Full time MBA in, but want to keep within North Am, Mainland Europe, Asia, and Australia.
On extracurricular fronts, I have done some Freelance Gadget reviews writing. Nothing too much there at the moment.

Can someone please help with what schools I can look at with my score and experience, and advantages/disadvantages of the geographies I have shortlisted?

Thanks!
Abhi

Hi Abhi, thanks for reaching out. Your work experience and scores put you in the striking range in many North American schools- work experience a bit over, GMAT at avg for most programs but may not quite hit avg for your pool. But these are stats that can give you a solid look anywhere. The other piece of info that is helpful- your performance UG and school. From here, I suggest you think about your long term post MBA career goals? Do you want to work in US post MBA- if so US B schools would serve you best. Do you want to work post MBA in Europe or Asia.... let this guide you as much as where you think you can get in. What do you want to do post MBA? The biggest place you can differentiate yourself is to express your WHY MBA and WHY this program? I don't see that clearly explained here so that's what I would work on- the GMAT is solid- won't be a reason for deny, but you will need more on other fronts to get the yes. If you want to learn how a firm like Stratus Prep helps candidates do the research to better understand themselves and their WHY, we offer free consults on our website at StratusPrep.com Best of luck to you!

Hey there Abhi!
I'd love to help you out but without more info it's gonna be hard. Where do you work? What do you do? How quickly have you advanced? Do you have any leadership? What are your great achievements? Do you have notable community service or extra curriculars? Which school did you graduate from?

All of these will play important roles in your evaluation.

I guess though, given your rough profile, that in the US you could aim for school sin the 20-50 ranking. In Europe, any both the Top 5 schools would be good for you and in Canada/Asia likewise.

But with more detail it will all be easier.

Best,
Jon

Hi Abhijit,
Your score is quite decent. Start with where you would like to stay long term - do you want to work for a few years and then go back to India?
Work authorisation is as important a point as reputation of college and future career prospects.
Think hard about what drives you. In the long term, everything evens out :)
