I was hoping to have a quick profile evaluation based on the following stats. Please let me know if supplemental information would be useful.
Schools:
1). HBS
2). Wharton
3). Kellogg
4). Columbia
5). Booth
6). Tuck
White Male, 29 years old, 5.5 yrs of work experience at application. 2-year athletic related gap period between high school & college playing semi-professional ice hockey.
Stats: 730 GMAT, 3.3 GPA
Undergrad: (Tufts, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Bates)
- Captain of Division III Ice Hockey Team
- President of Fraternity
- Head of Student Investment Fund
Career:
- 1 yr M&A Paralegal at top law firm (Skadden, Debevoise, S&C)
- 2 years top BB M&A Investment Banking (GS, JPM)
- 3 years at large alternative investment manager
- 1st year in NY
- 2nd Year moved to London to establish and run a new office for the firm
- Responsibilities include: investment research, internal M&A, product development, fundraising/IR
Recommendations:
Very strong, Managing Director level of the firm
Essays:

Hi there,
Thanks for sharing your background! Overall, you have an interesting profile - you'll want to make sure that you can "connect the dots" in your story between what you have done in the past and your post-MBA goals. Your GPA is a bit on the lower side, but your GMAT is exactly where it needs to be (assuming that your quant score is above an 80th percentile). I have worked with applicants who were/are athletes with similar profiles and they have been successful at the schools that are on your list. The one aspect that I would love to know more about is what you are doing on the extracurricular side.

I really like your profile and think you have all the necessary attributes to be admitted to the schools you mention -- including at HBS where I go. What I love about your profile is that it has elements of difference and familiarity in career path, some interesting leadership experiences, and clearly strong motivation behind the candidate. Where you need to spend your time -- before you ask that boss for his or her letter of recommendation -- is in getting your personal narrative down perfect. If that's not well-executed in a crisp and compelling way, then no stats will guarantee admission.

We think of this system as in contrast to the "branding" school of thought that otherwise dominates the admission consulting market.

Thanks for sharing your profile. You have a very strong and interesting background and could have the possibility of really standing out if you can really present your package cohesively. You are applying to some of the best schools in the world so although your GMAT is right at the avg for these schools your GPA is a bit low. Given your strong work experience and competitive undergrad this should be a minor issue. I think basing some of your application narrative around some of your non-traditional experience could really help you stand out here. Good luck!

Looks really, really promising, so if your recommendations (not just the recommender but also what they actually say) and essays are as impressive as you think I do think that you will be admitted to some of these schools. Do keep in mind that both essays and recommendations are often not as impressive as the applicant thinks, so if you do want to be sure that those are excellent as well, you might want to consider working with a professional on that part.
