Hello,

Can someone please evaluate my profile for the application to UT-Houston (Part Time), or RICE (Part Time)? Thanks in advance!

GMAT: 700 (90th Percentile), 48Q 38V
Undergrad GPA (Junior/Senior courses, as calculated by UT/Rice): 3.45
Work Experience: 5 Years Full Time, 7 Years with Internships Included, 6 Months Post-Graduate

I have strong work experience. I worked full time, and went to school over lunch, and in evenings for quite some time. It was difficult. Do schools take into consideration post graduate work experience, or work experience in general?

Please advise tips for admissions into the subject schools. Thanks again!

CORRECTION: I was looking at how UT and Rice calculate GPA. These schools do not base GPA on Senior and Junior level classes only.

In that case, I have a 2.961GPA. Yes, I had a tough start in my Engineering Undergrad program, but I turned it around and even graduated with honors... (Cum Laude). Honors was based on last 66 hours attempted...

Now I'm worried.

Don't be worried.
You have nice things all over your profile (including your WE)

With a good application your chances are quite good. you have a great GMAT, and the part-time programs are not that selective, so you should be fine.

Hello Jon,

In my AUX essay, I plan to address the following issues:

1) I have a low GPA, BUT...
-GPA has continuously increased every semester since a tough two semesters in a row.
-Worked fulltime (Long Hours) in order to pay for my degree.
-Engineering Undergrad program is reasonably difficult.

2) Real work experience prior to graduation.

I am also using an Engineering Professor as one of my letters of Recommendation to assist with the lacking GPA. Would you suggest that I address anything else?

Also, I unfortunately just started a new job, so I'm not sure that my letter of recommendation from my immediate supervisor will hold any weight. Even though my old supervisor has provided letters of recommendation for me in the past, I'm not sure that it is be the same now that I have left the company. Is there anyone else that you think I could use as a reference? Would a colleague be of any use? I'm sure I can find a few people that would say great things.

Thanks for your help!
