Problem Solving

I got this one on my practice CAT test the other day. I was astonished to learn that I got this wrong. To me it was rather simple however, I cannot come up with the right answer.

Can someone help me on this one?

Without solving it (this question has been addressed on this board before), here's your big hint:

The answer choices aren't numbers, they're numbers with boxes around them.

I noticed that... I still can't come up with the right approach though..... do you mind giving me the link to the thread where this has already been discussed?

[6] = 3

[9] = 27

so [6] x [9] = [81]

Now check the options.

[27] = 81.

So I think C is option

okay... I get it now.... thanks! So, basically, because the result is 81 and it's odd then applying the formula 3m makes m=27 so, [27]... right?

so you are trying to take the GMAT right? or is it SAT

if you really don't have anything nice to say, don't say it. Your demeaning post makes me think no matter what score you got on the GMAT, you are probably not a very good manager.

Anyway, I already feel like an idiot, and I'm not..... there's just certain things I get stumped on, your comment just made me feel all that much better about myself. I just come where when I've exhausted all my other avenues (basically my super smart husband). I'm trying to understand concepts, that's why I repeat the answer is a really simple way to make sure I got it right..... sorry if I sound like a teenager.

Sometimes it does happen that some obvious curiosities of normal human beings do untimely come out of their hearts all unintentionally. All of us are here to make and feel ourselves better than what we already are. Sarcasm is an art that should give away the just necessary warning in little words or gestures, which must not feel or sound offensive. It's just like the signboards that warn us of any possible danger or embarrassment all in advance; just imagine the funny graphics on the city-roads'/highways' signboards, or near heavy electric transformers, or even outside the public toiletries. So sarcasm is no idiocy and vice-versa.
