Choose E.
A] 'less' incorrectly modifies a countable quantity (8 units).
B] 'own' does not agree with singular noun 'individual'
C] 'and is owned' is not parallel to the other 2 items.
D] same as C.
What's the OA?

(A) a building owned by an individual or individuals having less than eight units and no commercial space [this option seems to suggest that individuals posses commercial space. is that ever possible? buildings can possess commercial space and not individuals. Eliminated!]
(B) one that an individual or individuals own with fewer than eight units and no commercial space [this again makes the same mistake as A. Eliminated!]
(C) a building with fewer than eight units, no commercial space, and is owned by an individual or individuals [elements are not parallel. Eliminated!]
(D) one that has fewer than eight units, no commercial space and it is owned by an individual or individuals [parallelism error. Eliminated!]
(E) one that has fewer than eight units, is owned by an individual or individuals, and has no commercial space [correct! my answer]

A is incorrect because of "individuals having less than 8 units"
B makes the same mistake as A ("individual or individuals own with fewer than eight units")
C&D: faulty ||ism.
E the correct answer has perfect ||ism without awkward construction or ambiguous pronoun referral.

The sentence with "building" chnages the meaning. it looks as if the name of the building is "THE PRIVATE BUILDING".rahulsaroha wrote:where u ppl have left the "building part"..i think it's necessary..a private house is the one....what one..
Hence "ONE" is necessary and "Building" can be omitted.

My pick is E. I believe that is required here to establish a necessary relationship...that housesanyalpritish wrote:A private house in New York City is a building owned by an individual or individuals having less than eight units and no commercial space.

between D and E, E is more clear and precise. Also in D there is unnecessary it

Well We all Agree C and D are out.
A and B are left
A is out for using "lesser uncountable"
E wins the race because //
I can't get B out but
