having left no historical records of their own, the histories of their enemies provide modernity the only record of the Huns, who conducted numerous Germanic tribes in Europe and assaulted the eastern Roman empire.

The most basic mistake is that the modifying phrase "having left no historical records of their own" precedes "the histories," suggesting that "histories" can leave their own records (!).
The subject obviously should be "the Huns."
