How long do I have to make a decision?

by tonytony » Fri Oct 10, 2008 4:50 am
Dear MBA Consultants,

In the event that I am admitted to a b-school in Round 1, how long am I generally given to respond? While I know that this may vary from one school to another, I am concerned that I might have to make a decision before I receive a decision from schools that I intend on applying in Round 2.

(I am just applying to Stanford in Round 1).

Thanks in advance!

Dear tonytony,

Most schools will post a date you will receive your decision by for each round. If Stanford does not have a date posted, then a good rule of thumb is about 8-10 weeks after you submit your application. There are variances there, but that will give you an idea. It is unlikely you will hear from Stanford prior to many round 2 deadlines; even if you do hear before the deadline, it will probably be close to that date. So it is in your best interest to still work on applications for other schools while awaiting your fate from Stanford.

Good luck,
Lisa
