Then 6 / ( v - 2 ) = 3 and 2 = v - 2. Thus, v = 4.
The number of hours it takes for the ship to go 6 miles downstream, is 6 / ( v + 2 ) = 6 / ( 4 + 2 ) = 1.
Therefore, D is the answer.
