The parabola y = f(x) = a(x-h)^2+k lies in the x-y plane. What is the value of k?

1) y = f(x) passes through (1,0) and (3,0).
2) y = f(x) passes through (2,1) and no y-value is greater than 1.

The first step of the VA (Variable Approach) method is to modify the original condition and the question. We then recheck the question.
