commercial farming of lobsters

126. As envisioned by researchers, commercial farming of lobsters will enable fisheries to sell the shellfish year-round, taking advantage of off-season demand, standardize its sizes and colors, and to predict sales volume in advance.
(A) taking advantage of off-season demand, standardize
(B) taking advantage of off-season demand, to standardize
(C) taking advantage of off-season demand, standardizing
(D) take advantage of off-season demand, standardizing
(E) take advantage of off-season demand, to standardize

OM says B..
I can't figure out why it's should be B..my best guess was E.
Experts please help

In this case, B is correct over E because "taking advantage of off-season demand" refers to fisheries' newfound ability to sell fish year round. It is not part of the list of things commercial lobster farming will allow fisheries to do, as E incorrectly implies by using "take" rather than "taking," it's a corollary to the first item in the list

Also, if E were the right answer, the sentence would read:

"Commercial farming ... will enable fisheries to sell ..., take ..., to standardize" which is not parallel.

IMO B

Very interesting this is
As envisioned by researchers, commercial farming of lobsters will enable fisheries to sell the shellfish year-round, taking advantage of off-season demand, standardize its sizes and colors, and to predict sales volume in advance.

The Rule is always follow 2nd items formating

commercial farming of lobsters will enable fisheries to sell the shellfish year-round because they take advantage of off-season demand,
to standardize its sizes and colors, and to predict sales volume in advance.

Could some one explain what "to standardize its sizes and colors, and to predict sales volume in advance" modifies.

The underlined part "taking advantage of off-season demand " is a subordinate clause of "will enable fisheries to sell the shellfish year-round" and hence, should have the 'ing form'. Hence, D and E can be eliminated.
"will enable fisheries to sell...to standardize...and to predict" is the parallel structure.
Hence, A and C can be eliminated.
Thus, B is the best choice.
