Social worker: Despite the existence of a public school system that does not demand fees of any kind, children drop out of school at an early age due to various difficulties at home.

School principal: Difficulties at home are not exactly the cause behind the children leaving school. The problem is that many parents simply allow their children to choose whether to go to school or stay home, and that in such cases children will obviously choose not to go to school.

Which of the following, if true, most weakens the principal's objection to the social worker's claim?

A) It has been noted that parents today are far less adamant about their children attending school with perfect regularity than parents were 50 years ago.

B) A public school system that does not require the payment of fees can only be maintained by the collection of relatively high income taxes.

C) A recent survey shows that 9 out of 10 children would avoid school attendance if given the opportunity to do so.

D) Research in the field of education and social structure shows that a large percentage of children from low-income families must spend 8 hours a day working or taking care of siblings

E) The premature departure of children from the schooling program affects the number of professional employees and, in turn, the economy.

Option A- INCORRECT.
This option is far from the truth, parents today are paramount about their children attending school with perfect regularity than parents were 50 years ago. It is obvious that in this generation, it is the pride of parents see their children become great academically.

Option B - INCORRECT.
A public school system that does not require the payment of fees can only be maintained by the government or by support systems from NGOs' and not by collecting relatively high income taxes from parents who are yet to feed themselves and their family well.

Option C - INCORRECT.
This option is in support of the school principals claim and has been unable to weaken the argument. If recent survey shows that 9 out of 10 children would avoid school attendance if given the opportunity to do so, then the blame should be first passed to the parent for lack of control over their children. Also, the problem is that many parents simply allow their children to choose whether to go to school or stay home due to financial constraint or other influences too and that in such cases children will obviously choose to stay back at home rather than going to school.

Option D - CORRECT.
This option is in best opinion to weaken the school principal objection to the social workers claim. However, it is unrealistic to say that the result acquired from the research in the field of education and social structure shows that a large percentage of children from low-income families must spend 8 hours a day working or taking care of siblings. Meanwhile, it is possible for some of the children from low income families to choose to stay back at home due to some family issue or financial constraint, but it is certain that it isn't a must for them to stay 8 hours a day working or taking care of siblings at home, this action would definitely have been influenced by something or someone. That is why parental decision is paramount in a child's life, just as it can be deduced from the school principals claim.

Option E - INCORRECT.
The premature departure of children from the schooling program would certainly affect the number of professional employees but not certain about it affecting the economy.
