Gallons Sally bought last week = 26.40/1.65

Amount Sally will have to pay this week = [26.40/1.65]*1.82 = 16*1.82 = $29.12

Amount Sally will have to pay = 29.12 - 26.40 = $2.72

The correct answer: D

Hope this helps!

Gallons Sally bought = 26.40/1.65= 16
Increase in the amount paid= (1.82-1.65)*16= 2.72

Since $26.40 bought 26.40/1.65 = 16 gallons last week, and this week she has to pay 1.82 - 1.65 = $0.17 more per gallon, she has to pay 16 x 0.17 = $2.72 more this week for the same amount of gasoline.
