According to the directions on a packet of smoothie mix, 1 3-ounce packet of smoothie mix is to be combined with 12 ounces of water to make a smoothie. How many 3-ounce packets of smoothie mix are required to prepare 150 12-ounce smoothies?

(A) 120
(B) 150
(C) 180
(D) 240
(E) 600

The OA is the option A.

I am really confused with this question. I don't know what should I do? What equations should I use? Help.

150 12-ounce smoothies = 150*12 total ounces.
Each 3-ounce packet is combined with 12 ounces of water to form one 15-ounce smoothie.
Since we must make 150*12 total ounces, and every 15 ounces requires 1 packet, we get:
(150*12)/15 = 120 packets.

The correct answer is A.

150 12-ounces smoothies is 150 x 12 = 1,800 ounces.

Since each smoothie consists of 15 ounces, we will need 1800/15 = 120 packets of smoothie mix.
