Without actually calculating the values, just multiply the numerators of all answer choices by 2 and see in which choice the numerator is greater than the denominator.
(A) 2*2 = 4 < 5
(B) 4*2 = 8 > 7, so this is the correct answer.
The correct answer is (B).
(A) 2*2 = 4 < 5
(B) 4*2 = 8 > 7, so this is the correct answer.
The correct answer is (B).

Since 4/8 = 1/2, and since 4/7 is greater than 4/8, 4/7 is greater than 1/2.pzazz12 wrote:Of the following, which is greater than ½ ?

Alternate solution:
We see that, in all answer choices except B, the numerator is less than 1/2 of its denominator. Only B has its numerator greater than 1/2 of its denominator; thus, B is the correct answer.
