Hi Roland2rule,

We're told that a cyclist's speed varies (depending on the terrain) between 6.0 miles per hour and 14.0 miles per hour, inclusive. We're asked for the MAXIMUM distance, in miles, that the cyclist could travel in 7 hours.

To maximize the distance traveled, we need to maximize the speed. Here, that would be 14 miles/hour. Over the course of 7 hours, the total distance would be...

(7 hours)(14 miles/hour) = 98 miles

Final Answer: D

Hi Roland2rule,
Let's take a look at your question.

To find the maximum distance covered by the cyclist, we will use the maximum speed.
Speed = 14.0 miles per hour
Time = 7 hours
Distance = Speed * Time
Distance = 14 * 7 = 98 miles.

Therefore, Option D is correct.

Hope it helps.
