Ans B
Question Stem:
30 students
18 in English
16 in Algebra
18+16 = 34
We need to understand how many students are not in either class
Stmt 1:
20 are enrolled in exactly 1 class = 10 are enrolled in both classes or neither class ---> insufficient as we do not know the split between both and neither
Stmt 2:
3 are not enrolled in either of these classes = 27 are enrolled in one class or both classes.
SUFFICIENT
--> since 18+16=34
34-27 = 7
==> 7 are taking both classes

I think the ans sud be D.
Lets consider the no. of students taking both the classes as 'x'. Then, since stmt I. gives us the no. of students taking exactly one of these classes, we can find 'x' using the equation:
18-x+16-x=20
solve for x and we get x=7 which is the no. of students taking both classes.
stmt II alone is also sufficient as LSB explained earlier.
