Potential to [verb], potential as [noun]. Both are correct idioms, given the verb "be" with "potential to" or the noun clause "huge source of energy" with "potential as"mastbombay wrote:Hi guys......i checked on many sites........

Everything boils down to parallelism; (E) is the only answer choice where all three elements of the list are parallel "As huge sources....as possible causes...as significant contributors"
Hope that helps!

Hi Eli, thanks for clarifying the potential as/to idiom, but why have you choosed E which repeats as in three places the last being even as..KapTeacherEli wrote: Potential to [verb], potential as [noun]. if potential as is common to all three activity : huge reservoirs of energy, possible causes of sea floor instability, and significant contributors to global warming.
Do not you think that repeat of as w/o potential is awkward to begin with and even as is making it even more awkward.
Charged up again to beat the beast

I marked C here thinking the intended meaning of the sentence has a causation with "sea floor instability"-it must be retained. Your thoughts pls.
