What kinds of property rights apply to Algonquian family hunting territories, and how did they come to be? The dominant view in recent decades has been that family hunting territories, like other forms of private landownership, were not found among Algonquians (a group of North American Indian tribes) before contact with Europeans but are the result of changes in Algonquian society brought about by the European-Algonquian fur trade, in combination with other factors such as ecological changes and consequent shifts in wildlife harvesting patterns. Another view claims that Algonquian family hunting territories predate contact with Europeans and are forms of private landownership by individuals and families. More recent fieldwork, however, has shown that individual and family rights to hunting territories form part of a larger land-use system of multifamilial hunting groups, that rights to hunting territories at this larger community level take precedence over those at the individual or family level, and that this system reflects a concept of spiritual and social reciprocity that conflicts with European concepts of private property. In short, there are now strong reasons to think that it was erroneous to claim that Algonquian family hunting territories ever were, or were becoming, a kind of private property system.

Let us try to summarize the argument -
The argument talks about a dominant view and then another view. In the next sentence he/she states that property rights in Algonquian family hunting territories do not conform to either of these. (Note the word - "however").
The conclusion of the argument is stated in the final sentence of the paragraph.

Q1
A - the passage is not about an "unexpected phenomenon". We are talking about Algonquian family hunting territories.
B - incorrect. Look at this sentence - "In short, there are now strong reasons to think that it was erroneous ...". the author thinks that more recent fieldwork has addressed the question. If this option were true, he/she would have something like this - "the evidence gathered through more recent fieldwork is also not entirely convincing/does not address many questions".
C - correct answer. Notice the word "however" after the 2nd view. this means that the author plans to introduce a new view.
D - incorrect. Look at this sentence - "In short, there are now strong reasons to think that it was erroneous"
E - not true. The author's intention is to introduce an new position and he states that the earlier positions might be incorrect.

Q2.
Read the sentence that talks about the first view - "were not found among Algonquians (a group of North American Indian tribes) before contact with Europeans but are the result of changes in Algonquian society brought about by the European-Algonquian fur trade"
Only answer option D states this.

Q3.
Look at these sentences -
"The dominant view in recent decades has been that family hunting territories, like other forms of private landownership,"
"Another view claims that Algonquian family hunting territories predate contact with Europeans and are forms of private landownership"
"it was erroneous to claim that Algonquian family hunting territories ever were, or were becoming, a kind of private property system."
Both the views talk about private ownership. Only A makes sense.
B - No. they think of them as private ownerships.
C - Only the 2nd viewpoint states this.
D - Only the 1st viewpoint states this.
E - the passage does not talk about family hunting territories replacing reciprocal practices at all.
