Here X is improved efficiency so why has to refer back to it or somewhat similar entity.
Here 'IT' refers to improved efficiency.

Now B is wrong because..Improved efficiency,demand is wrong or not parallel.
Also which boost -- can refer to increasing supply and lower prices (and so plural) or it can refer to only--lower prices.Sp this creates a degree of ambiguity.
Also from the intended meaning of the sentence IT-- is the Improved efficiency which boosts..

D is wrong: Although PASSIVE,ACTIVE
Also ..it will stimulate demand, because it will increase supply and lower prices
Wordy and unnecessary causal relationship by usage of because..
Better way to express is-- it will simulate demand by increasing supply and lower prices.
