Score 650... Applicable colleges

by sabybhowmick » Wed May 04, 2016 11:20 am
Hi everyone
I just gave my Gmat and my score is an average 650. i started preparing only two months back and have mainly used the official GMAC guide and the GMAT prep software for sample test. I want to know what are my chances of getting admission in the decent MBA colleges (Not aiming the IVY League) with the profile given below. Advise would be appreciated.

Qualification: Undergrad in Civil Engineering from India
Completed a semester project from National University of Singapore
Masters in Construction and Project Management from University of Manchester
Work Exp: 3.5 Years with one of the Top real estate company as deputy project Incharge in India

I want to pursue my MBA to get better prospects.

My options are open for good colleges in USA, Canada or Australia.

I want to know if I should try and give my GMAt again. If so where can i find some good links in improving my Math basically as my percentile in the same went a bit down. and how to get that basic edge as i am aiming at a score of 720 or so.

Thanks

Help would be appreciated.

Hey there,
So a GMAT is only a PART of your profile. An important part of course. But still just a part. And you should really evaluate yourself based on the entirety of your profile.

If you want to have a vague idea of where you may stand, you can use the GMAT as a start though. Basically look at the school list and the average GMAT of the incoming class - and schools with a GMAT of 650 or lower will be about right (as an Indian Engineer anything higher will likely be out of range).

Of course, ideally you will get that 720!
:)

Best of luck!

Thanks for sharing.

From what you have shared, I believe you are aware that you have a great chance of improving on your GMAT score. If this is the case, it would be a good idea to consider retaking. Scoring higher would boost your chances. Coming from a very competitive applicant pool it would be very helpful to have a higher GMAT score. It may also be the difference in getting a scholarship or not.

Wish you all the best!

Hi,
You can target B-schools like Emory, Kelley, UNC Kenan Flagler, Texas A&M, Ohio Fisher, Michigan Broad in US. Also you can target schools like Queens, Schulich, UBC Sauder, Ivey in Canada and AGSM and Melbourne Business School in Australia. Plan and retake GMAT to improve your chances.
