We know that 3 angles in a triangle add to 180 degrees.
So, we get: y + (y + 10) + 90 = 180
Simplify: 2y + 100 = 180
So: 2y = 80
y = 40

So, angle B = 40, and angle A = 50
So, the ratio of the measure of angle B to the measure of angle A = 40 to 50
To simplify this ratio, divide both sides by 10 to get: 4 to 5

Answer: D

From the figure, we know that it is a right angle triangle.
Hence, y + (y + 10) + 90 = 180
Or, 2y = 80, y = 40

angle B = 40 and angle A = 40
Ratio of angle B to angle A = 4:5

Correct option: D

Hi All,

We're asked to find the ratio of the measure of angle B to the measure of angle A in the figure above.

Since we're dealing with a right triangle, we know that one of the angles is 90. Each triangle has 180 degrees, so the remaining two angles must SUM to 90 degrees:

(Y) + (Y +10) = 90
2Y + 10 = 90
2Y = 80
Y = 40

Thus, the two angles are 40 and 50 and the answer to the question is 40:50 = 4:5

Final Answer: D

We can create the equation:

y + y + 10 + 90 = 180

2y = 80

y = 40

Thus:

40/(40 + 10) = 4/5
