GMAT Retake Needed? Low Quant, High Verbal

I have been advised that this might be a better place to posture the question I originally posted in the above link.

Essentially, I scored a 710, but with a 42 Quant and 44 Verbal score. I have a strong "quant" background that I believe may alleviate the low quant score a bit. A relatively high (3.7) GPA, Accounting major, Masters of Accountancy, and am a CPA who has worked in Big 4 accounting for 3 1/2 years.

If I would like to apply to top tier programs, is it worth taking the GMAT again in an attempt to improve on the low quant score? Time constraints for admissions deadlines and additional studying are the pressure points of that option.

Greatly appreciate any advice you can offer! Thanks!

I really would recommend taking the exam again. Your quant score is in the 50th percentile. Most of the top programs will look for your quant score to be at least at the 80th percentile. Hope that helps.
