Duke MMS vs LBS MiM

by elmirg » Tue Mar 31, 2015 7:59 am
Hi everyone,

My cousin (22) got admitted to both Duke MMS and LBS MiM,
He is like me from a CIS country and wishing to join either a start-up or management consulting field after the graduation (not really concerned if its US or Europe).
Price is more or less the same, LBS will be only 10-15k more expensive.
Can someone advise which school & program is better taking into account his post-graduate goals?
Please, note, that going back home without any job offers is highly undesirable.

My vision is that though LBS MiM is a great program, which places generally very well, job scene in UK is quite bad for non-EU citizens.
On the other hand Fuqua is a good brand name in US with a strong network.
Degree is a bit cheaper + no-cosigner loan is possible and US is imho better for going into startups and entrepreneurship.

Please, share your opinions on this.

They are both good. Although Duke's program is more mature, and the students will be older than in LBS MiM and also more experienced, which might be a very good thing.

But I think it boils down to: where does he want to live and work? US or Europe?

Thank you very much for the feedback, Jon.

I think he is more inclined into entrepreneurship and Silicon Valley stuff, so already made an initial deposit to Duke :)
