geo funda

Hi ppl,

try to solve this one.

ABCD is a quadrilateral. Is AB=BC=CD=DA?
1. AC is perpendicular to BD
2. AB+CD = BC+ AD

• Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but Statement (2) ALONE is not sufficient
• Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but Statement (1) ALONE is not sufficient
• BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient
• EACH statement ALONE is sufficient
• Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient

My explanation would be:

Since statement 1 says diagonals are perpendicular to each other, it is a rhombus and thus this stat is sufficient.

and
since statement 2 doesnt give a clue whether sides are equal or not.
Insufficient

hence, my ans will be A.

what do u guys say??

thanks,
nitug

Is the question correctly posted.

shouldnt first statement say : AC and BD are perpendicular bisectors to each other.

both the statements can be true for a kite or a square or a rhombus.
a kite may not necessarily have all the sides as equal.

hence the data given is insufficient.

hence IMO E.

the ques is correctly posted and yes the explanation is right as the ans is E indeed.

Thanks!!
