Does Low IR impact Admissions

by ptecks » Mon Feb 09, 2015 11:57 pm
Hi,

I gave my GMAT on the 1st of February 2015 and got a 710(Q-49/V-35)
I have got 6.0 in my AWA but 3(25%) in my IR.

Will the low IR score impact my admissions?

I have 2 years of experience and want to apply this year to B-Schools for admissions.

Thanks and Regards,
Pritesh

It impacts somewhat, but basically the regular score is far far more important. So if the 710 is about as high as you can go, I'd just stick with that score, and only consider retaking if you are confident of being able to improve your score in the main section.

Best,
Jon

Hi,

My CGPA is 3.4
I want to apply to ISB, NUS and Nanyang this year.

If I work on my profile and essays, can they help to make up for my low IR score?

Thanks and regards,
Pritesh

Well, it's not exactly that it will "make up" for your low score. Because your low IR score will still be there, but it might help balance things out by showing that you have strengths in other areas.

I think for the schools you are aiming at, it shouldn't harm your application that much, and if you send a great application with great recs it can bring you a loooooong way.

Best,
JF
