D seems best

the bold portion creates subject-verb agreement in respective choices

(A)of all the other cities, each contributing a number of votes according to their

(B)of all the other cities, with each of them contributing a number of votes according to their

(C)all the other cities, each of which contributing a number of votes according to its-->(the construction "each of which" does not have a working verb)

(D)all the other cities, each contributing a number of votes according to its --->correct

(E)all the other cities, each of which contribute a number of votes according to their

Can you please elaborate on this? Why does each of which need a working verb?

a) each...their - worng
b) same as a
c)each of which" -- then you need to say "each of which CONTRIBUTES" and turn that into a verb phrase
d) correct
e) same as a, also each of which contributes should be there...

Hi dqtuan9627

The main game changer here is the infinitive pronoun "each". When "each" is used as subject,

everything that refers to it has to be singular. In this sentence "each" is used to replace "cities".

Even if the noun it replaces is in fact plural, "each" used as subject is always singular.

A) "each" contributing....."their". "their" incorrectly refers to "each".

B) Look answer A.

C) "each of which contributing" is wrong, "each of which" should be followed by "contributes" instead.

D) Correct.

E) Look answer A.

Hope it helps!
