I've been away from the forum for a couple of years while I completed my MBA. I owe you all a debt of gratitude for supporting me during my time off by buying my OG Companion books and Solutions Engine tools. Thank you! Now I'd like to give back.

During my Masters' program (and since graduation), I coded software (GMATFix App for Windows only) to help my clients prepare for the GMAT. It has certain custom-built features that I included because they are missing (as far as I could tell) from other tools currently available.

I would like to give away 20 licenses to BeatTheGMAT members who add value to the forum. If you think this tool can be helpful to you, please post your GMATFix App username here (takes about 30 seconds to get one from within the App) and I will give you a license so long as you meet the following criteria:
  • 1. You have at least 2 "Thank You's" from the community (I want to help people who help others)
  • 2. You are not an Expert on this site (I want to help people who really do need help)
  • 3. You are one of the first 20 to request your license
If you have already taken the test and are just curious, you can try the App for free (just download it from GMATFix) but please leave these 20 licenses for people who will actually use them.

If you miss your chance here, but are a member of the Consortium, don't despair. I received a full fellowship to The Ross School of Business through the Consortium, so I will definitely be giving back in a big way soon.

-Patrick

Hi Patrick,

Firstly, thanks for creating such a great GMAT application! I'm sure many prospective GMAT takers (including me) would benefit from this.

Please count me in if I'm eligible for a free license.

On a side note would these licenses be valid for more than a month?

GMATFix App username: mevicks

Thanks & Regards.
Vivek

I am the one thankful to the forum Vivek. The license is for 3 months; the next time you fire up the App, click LICENSE and you will find yours waiting for you :-)

This happens when the application cannot communicate with the server. This is usually when the server has a service interruption or when security software blocks traffic. Try again a few minutes later; if there was a service interruption, it is unlikely to last more than a couple of minutes.

Next, try temporarily turning off your firewalls/antivirus (including Windows Firewall) and use the App again; if all goes well, you'll know that a software conflict is to blame. You will then need to figure out how to tell your security software to trust the App, as it contains no adware or virus (I coded the software myself).

Hi ani781,

Try the following:

1. Make sure your are connected to the internet (the app requires internet for downloading the questions etc) > Check you pc settings as mentioned by Patrick in the above posts.
2. Click on the License Button
3. Login via the New screen (just press the OK button on the new popup screen)
Image
4. You should see the license details. If asked to register the device, do so by clicking the Yes button.

Hope that helps.

I couldn't give it to you without the username. Now you should have your license. Just restart the app, log in and enjoy :-)
