Need help in improving verbal score

by n.sudha88 » Sat Aug 03, 2013 6:55 pm
Hi,
I have taken my GMAT on 1st Aug and scored a 640(49Q, 29V).
Thought I am ok with my quant score, my verbal needs to improve, at least to around 40 as I am aiming for a 700+ in GMAT. My practice test scores are like:

GMATPrep1(JUN 27th): 620 (49Q, 26V)
GMATPrep2(JUL 24th): 650 (49Q, 30V)
MGMAT1: 620 (45Q, 31V)
MGMAT2: 640 (44Q, 33V)
MGMAT3: 610 (44Q, 31V)

I have read; OG13, Kaplan premier, MGMAT 8 strategy set and Kaplan 800. Even though I feel, I have almost exhausted everything of the materials above, my verbal score was stagnate from the past one month of my preparation. I think I am missing on some strategy in preparing for verbal.

I am ok with CR but need an improvement in RC and most importantly SC. Kindly suggest any books/materials to improve my verbal score. I am planning to take my second attempt once I see an improvement in verbal score.

Hello Sudha,
I recommend you watch "Thursdays with Ron" videos. You can google it out. You can choose the sentence correction topics. Concentrate on Sentence Structure, Modifiers and Parallelism. You will do great.

Also, I would recommend you practice 5 questions of RC daily for improving your RC.

Hi n.sudha88,

Have you scheduled another Official GMAT yet? If so, then when? The amount of time that you have to study will likely be a factor in the type of advice that I give.

Hi sudha

My SC was as bad as it could be and I scored V22 when I took the first gmat but I can tell you that RON's Videos are just way too good. If you finish all the videos alongwith the practise I bet your accuracy in SC will spike immediately. I have done it and what RON teaches you no book can teach you.

Here is the link have a look at his tutorials...He has got RC and CR tutorials too.
