Hi,
Please shed some light on things one should be sure of before answering the questions and after reading the passage ?
Here are things that i would list , ( let me know if they makes sense)
1) Main idea whole passage.
2) Main idea per paragraph.
3) Direction changes/ mood swings.
Is there anything else which is helpful ?

To your third point (direction changes/ mood swings), I might add "opposing points of views"
These are very common on the GMAT.
Examples:
- In the past we did X, but now we do Y
- Some scientists believe X but I believe Y
- Some workers do X, but others do Y
etc.
