Hi,

I am waiting for my result with GWU for Global MBA. I wanted to ask how good is doing MBA from GWU for an international student point of view. What I have heard in the past ,Global MBA as a program is good, but when it comes to placement of international students there is a bit of problem. How true is that?
I have got through Indian universities, where cost is just a fraction of the cost from GWU. Therefore I look for good placement, if doing from GWU. I am looking for Consulting/ Finance profile. Please advice!

Thanks in advance!

rohanjain16, GWU is a very good school, however recruiting can sometimes be tricky for international students at any U.S. school, due to visa issues (the same is true for international students at European schools). It's important to have the mindset of self-sufficiency in the job-search process. The schools are all very motivated to try and help their graduates find jobs, but it comes down to the student to make it happen, in terms of pounding the pavement, making connections, etc. From the school's perspective, it's not so much "placement" as "career services" if that makes sense.

Consulting and finance are VERY different and we don't quite understand why you've lumped them together (do you mean you want to do consulting for financial services companies?). Your best bet in analyzing this opportunity is to talk to GWU's career services office, and also reach out to current international students and recent alum. They can offer their own perspectives and help you see firsthand what the situation is on the ground.

Hopefully the job market will continue its current recovery and there will be less concern on the job front by the time you graduate - but these are very important questions for you to consider going into it.

Great job on getting in to multiple programs! Good luck with the decision - and have fun in bschool!!

Well to give you a real answer I'd have to understand more about you , your profile, what your goals are, what industry you are aiming at etc. Essentially there are only two sources of information regarding post-MBA employment - the school's self reported employment information and anecdotal evidence from students and graduates. Both are invaluable sources.

But you should be looking at this info as specifically as possible - meaning not just "How and where does GW place?" but also "How does GW place in MY industry? How does GW place students who come from MY country? Which employers that I wish to work at recruit on campus?" Etc. etc. It's also a very very good idea to get in touch with graduates who have a similar profile as yours to get the most precise info you can get (go linkedin!!!!)
