Statement 1: As we know the value of x, we can determine the value of y and answer the question in either YES or NO.btgsnt wrote:If x is an integer and y = 2^(-x), is y < 1/8?
(1) x = 4
(2) x > 2
Sufficient
Statement 2: Consider the following two examples,
- x = 3, y = 2^(-3) = 1/[2^3] = 1/8 ---> NO
x = 4, y = 2^(-4) = 1/[2^4] = 1/16 < 1/8 ---> YES
The correct answer is A.
