Ans 'A' :
From stem 1 : we have 2 conditions where 3 (triangle) 2>3
i.e. either it is + or * that has to be used and we have to
chk for applying both the signs if it is to satisfy...
for both addition and multiplication the ans for both the sides are matching.
For addition they are 12 and multiplication they are 48.

We just need to find out if the expression in the question stem is true or not.
Statement I.
it could be multiplication or addition.
if you replace the sign with multiplication sign or addition sign the expression would hold true meaning LHS=RHS
Sufficient.
Statement II
it could be division or multiplication.
if we use multiplication. LHS=RHS
but if we use division LHS will not be equal to RHS.
Therefore in sufficient.
Hence A.
