System error during official GMAT

by Phoenix72 » Fri Mar 15, 2013 5:27 am
Hi All,

Has anyone ever experience system issue during official GMAT? I took the GMAT today in India and while i was in Quant section, the system gave an error message and the computer hanged. After 2 mins, I was made to sit in a new terminal and the exam resumed from the same point. However, i feel that there could have been a computation error in my score report. How can i rule out this possibility.

Please suggest what to do ?

Hey Phoenix72 - what a bummer that the computer had problems! That must have added a lot of stress to an already-stressful experience, no fun.

Notwithstanding the fact that the computer you were using malfunctioned, we actually have faith in the quality of the technology behind the GMAT and we would be surprised if your score was affected. That being said, GMAC does have a provision for investigating issues at test centers and they can look into it for you. They might cancel your original score and offer you the chance to re-test for free if they determine that the issue you experienced caused problems.

You might want to post this question in the Ask the Test Maker forum so that the Official GMAT rep can respond: https://www.beatthegmat.com/ask-the-test-maker-f71.html

Hi essaysnark,
Thanks a ton for the response. I have informed the GMAC team and an incident has been created on this issue. They will investigate the case and let me know the outcome soon.Fingers crossed!!
