The OG - by Warner Books?

by sis » Fri Jan 11, 2013 7:41 am
Hello all,

I am preparing for admission test to apply for Cranfield University.
They have send me a list of recommended reading material and it states: "The Official Guide for GMAT review" pub. Graduate Management Admission Council in association with Warner Books Inc, Chapter 2 and 3.

I have an Official Guide 12th Edition at home which I bought a couple of years ago and looked at Ch 2 & 3 and it seems strange as Ch. 2 deals with: How should I pepare. I realise there is a new version of the Official Guide in the meantime, I looked the Table of Contents up on Amazon and it seems that it is still dealing with the same subjects. In addition, I noticed that my book is published by Wiley & Sons, not Warner Books.

I tried to google the Warner book but I only get an old version of the OG. Is it possible that they are referring to an old publication or can someone point me to the correct source?

thanks

Thanks for your prompt reply!

I realise that the OG is not the best guide to prepare, but I just wanted to be sure I have the reading material they recommend as well. So am I correct that the OG was previously published by Warner books whereas now it is published by Wiley or am I still missing something?

Sorry for the questions but it really puzzles me!

You are correct. Wiley now publishes the Official Guide. If you are looking at the 13th edition, then you have the correct book...the 12th edition is fine as well but it does not include anything about the new Integrated Reasoning Section so if you have a choice go for the 13th edition.

the OG is the single most valuable piece of preparatory material in the market.

you can get more detailed strategy advice frem test-prep books -- such as those published by MGMAT -- but, regardless of which test-prep books you choose, what's ultimately most important is how your strategies play out on the OG questions.

good luck!
