Students generally feel that the atmosphere both inside and outside the classroom is quite positive, though overall reports of the climate outside the classroom are slightly more negative than the climate inside the classroom.

A. than the climate inside of the classroom

B. than those of the climate inside the classroom

C. than is so of the climate inside the classroom

D. than compared to the climate inside the classroom

E. compared to those of the climate inside of the classroom

OA - B

why not E???

use of MORE (in non-underlined part) calls for THAN. THAN is missing in E. Moreover, MORE THAN...COMPARED TO (two different comparison indicators) cannot be used to show one relationship. In this example we are comparing REPORTS INSIDE WITH REPORTS OUTSIDE, just one relationship.

Additionally, In E "inside of the classroom" is awkward. "Inside the classroom" is both concise and better.
