OA is correct.

The idiom tested here is: not only X but also Y, in which X and Y should be parallel.

Software is the subject. If you break the sentence in two part you'll see why the OA is correct.

The software will meet the needs. The software will have the versatility and power.
When you keep the word will common, it should be applicable to both parts of the idiom.

Hope it helps.

Yes, IMO correct answer should be A. "Computer Software" being the subject is singular so "has" should be used.

OA: B. I have a doubt on this OA.
Here, WILL is a helping verb that precedes the idiom not only X but also Y.
Because the helping verb PRECEDES the idiom, it applies to BOTH VERBS contained within the idiom.

Answer choice B:
The computer software being designed for a project studying Native American access to higher education WILL not only MEET the needs of that study but also [will] HAVE the versatility and power to facilitate similar research endeavors.
The second helping verb is not needed because its presence is IMPLIED.
This is known as ELLIPSIS: the omission of words whose presence is understood.

The correct answer is B.

Hi Mitch,
Is...but also have the versatility and power to facilitate an example of an inverted sentence(verb before the subject)?

Thanks!

Compare these two sentences and see which one is correct:

A. The software will has the versatility and power.
B. The software will have the versatility and power.

There is no inversion here:
The computer software will have the versatility and power to facilitate similar research endeavors.
The subject of will have is THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE.
The versatility and power serve as the DIRECT OBJECT of will have.

Hi Mitch,

I understood this Ellipsis thing but I still have a doubt.
Could you please explain whether we use 'have' or 'has' after 'will'. Or what will be the correct usage after 'will' as here 'meet' and 'have' are used even when the subject 'software' is singular.

Thanks in advance!

The bare infinitive = TO + VERB without the to.
The bare infinitive of to have is HAVE.

Future tense = WILL + BARE INFINITIVE:
THEY will have
IT will have.
HE will have.
The form of the verb is the same, regardless of the subject.
